Project 3 Compare and Contrast Beliefs and Rituals
Compare and contrast the beliefs, costumes, rituals, use of food, music and art, etc. between the Ancient Egyptians and Central American's who participate in the "Day of the Dead."

As you know, in every culture, there are traditions and beliefs about death. The Central Americans call it the Day of the Dead and have their particular traditions and beliefs. The Egyptians don't use the term 'Day of the Dead', because their culture is different.

The easiest way to do this assignment is one custom at a time. One way to organize the information for your essay is to make a two sided chart that has the Day of the Dead customs on one side and the Egyptians on the other (example: food offerings to ancestors.)

What do the Egyptians do differently that you could compare and contrast? The details of the customs will give you many specific things to compare and contrast. This is called a point by point comparison.

Below is a sample chart with just a few possibilities...

  Central Americans Ancient Egyptians
Food offerings
Costumes
Treatment of the Body
Art (style, color, material etc.)
Afterlife beliefs
